Our Impact

At UTeach Outreach, we believe we can change the world, one scientist at a time. So, we’ve started with the Austin community with efforts helping students and teachers engage in science. Since 2003, UTeach Outreach has placed approximately 1,300 UT students in more than 200 classrooms across Austin, most of which serve underprivileged students. Together, these students have spent more than 24,000 hours engaging students and teachers with hands-on science lessons through many of the Outreach projects. In addition, student volunteers spent more than 6,600 hours volunteering at STEM-related special events and presentations by UTeach Outreach.

In 2012, the UTeach Outreach program will continue to serve schools around Austin. This spring, more than 200 UT students will serve as volunteer teachers and provide in-depth, hands-on science lessons to approximately 38 schools reaching more than 2,400 students. UTeach Outreach will also supervise the creation of more than 60 science lessons to be taught in classrooms and shared during a variety of fun volunteer events. We invite you to join us in changing the world this year!
