Ashley worked with the UTeach Outreach program for 2 years as the head Office Manager. After graduating from the UTeach program in May 2009, Ashley moved to Houston to work as a 9th grade Algebra I teacher at Alief Taylor High School. In her first year at Alief Taylor High School, Ashley was named "New Teacher of the Year" and has been a leader on her campus in implementing the 5E model of how to bring engaging hands-on lessons into the classroom. With one year under her belt, Ashely has taken the role as National Honor Society sponsor for the 2010-2011 school year. In her new role she hosts blood drives, assist and mentor students as they coordinate events and act as a liaison between faculty and students. Ashley's experience as office manager with UTeach Outreach allowed her to take the lead on a variety of projects and helped her build a skill set that is now essential in her job.
