The Physics Wave is a program in which motivated students from the Physics Department at the University of Texas at Austin help students at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy discover how physics relates to philosophy, communications, business and government. This program aims to help students explore the different career avenues offered with a Physics degree and engage students to think of physics as more than just complicated math, but a way of thought.
Benefits of Participating:
- Further your knowledge of physics. Loving physics is NOT a requirement;
- Interact closely with University of Texas students for guidance and enrichment;
- Get an introduction into both physics research and education in a relaxing and fun environment;
- Develop valuable skills like leadership, communication, and presentation expertise;
- Enhance your resume and college applications.
For interested high school students: Every Wednesday from 4-5:15pm, your students will participate in hands-on activities that explain basic physics concepts of modern research going on today in physics labs across the world. After a few weeks, we’ll teach you one physics lesson to teach to our UT after school club at Burnet Middle School. All students participating will develop valuable skill sets like leadership, communication and presentation expertise and have a valuable addition to resumes and college applications. If you are interested, please contact us at UTeach.Outreach@austin.utexas.edu.
